"Thank you for your interest in my work. My name is George Gottselig, and I reside in the Powell River region, on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. About six ago, I fell in love with this region's climate, its natural beauty and the friendly people who make this their home.

I first got involved in Metal Work several years before moving to Powell River, however. It all began when I purchased my first Oxy-Acetylene Outfit. That led to attaining my Level "A" Welding Certification at Cariboo Collge. This training gave me the knowledge needed in Metallurgy and Welding and practice working with many different metals.

I became interested in Metal Art almost as soon as I started working with metal. Metal, and especially iron, is a great medium to work with due to its clay-like consistency. When heated red hot, it can be shaped with tools, and the artist can add to it, or subtract from it. It also has a permanence which allows Metal Art to be used toward functional outdoor uses such as signs, gates and garden art.

Living by the sea has influenced my metal art subjects in that I now do a lot of aquatic subjects. I add my own personal touch to my work. I use my imagination to give it originality. Most of all, I want people to be entertained by my metal art subjects. " - George Gottselig.
